IGSA offers rescue hope to mill Italian Greyhounds in the midwest states. These are the IGs you never see and rarely hear about. They are used for commercial breeding, spend their lives in wire cages, and are typically destroyed when their fertility comes to an end. We believe their lives are worth saving. They have paid their dues, done their job, and they deserve better. We know what wonderful, grateful companions they can become when given a chance. It is IGSA's mission to provide a happier ending for as many of them as we can.
Although the older breeding dogs who are in immediate danger of being culled are our first priority, IGSA does accept IGs of any age when space is available. You will often find young adults, occasionally even puppies, available through our program. What they all have in common is that their lives were in danger and they had run out of rescue options elsewhere. The Safehouse Alliance was literally their last resort. We believe there is a loving, permanent home out there somewhere for every one of them. Who knows? One might even be the perfect match for you!
We hope that the information we offer, and the dogs we will introduce to you, will encourage you to become an advocate for the IGs trapped in the mills. Should your friends or family think they might like to buy an Italian Greyhound, please help us by encouraging them to thoroughly research the breed first, then to adopt from a rescue organization or seek out a puppy from a responsible breeder.
