Periodontal Disease in IGS

IT ISN'T PRETTY. IT SMELLS BAD.

THE PAIN IS EXCRUCIATING!

BUT DID YOU KNOW IT CAN KILL?

The bacteria from dental neglect is not confined to your dog's mouth; it circulates in the blood stream and settles in places like the liver, kidneys, and heart. It can cause irreversible organ damage.

IT CAN STEAL YEARS FROM YOUR IG'S LIFE!

Tia Resleure's straight talk about dental care illustrates step by step how to teach your IG to accept daily brushing.

Reda

Reda, 5 YOF, Blk/Wht. Reda is very tiny IGGY she weight's only 8lbs. Reda was one of the dog's that were seized in the Wood, WI dog seizure (see article). She was kept in a small cat carrier with 2 other dogs with very limited movement inside the crate. Reda has never been walked, handled or loved. She is very timid and does not know that she is now safe in my IG foster home. Reda came from the seizure with very bad teeth and after an extensive dental she now unable to keep her tongue in her mouth due to her teeth being removed from the entire left side of her mouth. Reda also has no hair on the underside of her tail and on her left hind leg due to have to lay in the same position day after day. With much love and an expected long rehabilitation time with me and my family we hope to find her a forever home where she can be safe, secure and live out her life with treats and a warm soft bed. Garnet

Garnet is an 8 month old petite IG puppy weighing just under 6 pounds. Garnet comes from a commerical mill and was scheduled to be euthanized the day a caring person contacted our group to help her. Garnet was born with a severe knee problem and has no use of her back legs. She only walks on her front legs but is in foster care and learning how to balance and learning about life outside the wire pen she called home. Her front feet have marks embedded from the wire. Garnet has an appointment with a specialist in early August and IG Safehouse is committed to doing everything we can to help this girl so one day she can run like other puppies. Watch the site for updates. For more information, please email Carol at CLS@igsafehouse.org.
